The Longest Layover Ever!

I know that it has been a while since my last post, so I thought I better turn a new leaf and get to writing again. I wish that I had more fun and interesting things to update on while home in Utah, but that was not the case this summer. I guess we had to leave the country again to become interesting...

We left Utah on Sunday August 11, 2013 to start the next chapter of our lives in Grenada so that Reed can go to medical school and get his MPH/MD degree.
We left Salt Lake and on one of our layovers, the plane had mechanical issues and we missed our next flights. More specifically we found out that they actually had to change a tire and the brakes on our plane. I didn't even know that was a thing! We ended up having an unplanned 3 day vacation in Atlanta, GA.

We got in some good sight seeing while we were there, and now I can say I've been on a train. We took the metro into downtown and explored the ghetto and glam of Atlanta.

The longest escalator I have ever seen. This picture doesn't do it justice. This thing took minutes to get to the top. This took us from the train underground to the actual downtown.

A lot of the buildings there are connected by tunnels above the street. It was a lot of fun getting through parts of the city this way.

We found the American Cancer Society building and Reed had to check it out. We didn't get to see any labs, or really anything but the building itself was beautiful.

Atlanta has a beautiful park dedicated to the 1996 Olympics. It was ok.

The Atlanta aquarium is enormous! We wanted to check out inside, but it was too pricey for our impromptu vacation, so we took pictures pretending we had just exited.

Apparently the World of Coke can be found in Atlanta. The WORLD of coke mind you. They have an enormous metal coke bottle you can see from miles away. It looked delicious.

We were able to see a lot of the culture and get the feel of a big city. We had a good time overall, in spite of the fact that 6-8 hours of each day was spent at the airport trying to get us a flight and a new hotel reservation for the night.
